Chess in Swedish!!
Björn & Benny have finnaly taken the decision to translate 'Chess' into Swedish. In February 2002 it is expected to open up on Cirkus in Stockholm, the same venue used for 'Kristina'. There will be more "action", less focus on the eas-west conflict and more on the relations.

The idea is not brand new. It was discussed when they were working on 'Kristina'. However nothing happened, until Lars Rudolfsson came up a synopsis and called them. He will now do the full script and also direct.

The story will be reduced to take place in one week. The music will be the same, almost. At least one song will be dropped, One Night In Bangkok (it does no longer take place there). On the other hand a song that never got to be in the original version will be added. There will also probably one or a few brand new songs.

Three roles have been casted. Tommy Körberg will once again play Anatoly the Russian chess player. From 'Kristina' comes Anders Ekborg as the American player Freddie and as his second Helen Sjöholm. Does it smell like success...

Reworked Chess soon?
Björn Ulvaeus said in an interview almost a year ago that he together with Benny and Tim are reworking Chess. This will probably mean it will reopen again. A likely place for that is Australia or Canada.
